A photograph of medicinal plants that I collected on a nuclear missile site in the summer of 2020.
Today began with a student emailing me that I may have to take over for him in our online class because he was coughing up blood.
The day ended with a student posting a video of her work where you can hear an old man gasping for breath in the background.
Last week, on the one day I leave my house, I finished my errands early and went to the park for exercise. I had been wearing a mask and when I got to the river I took it off to breathe in some of that wide open space. But the air smelled wrong, like something was burning far away, and I put the mask back on. It occurred to me later that the crematoriums have been working overtime.
